Wool

Wool is a protein fiber grown from the fleece of sheep. It is one of the most versatile natural fibers, performing in both cold and warm conditions, and has been used in clothing for at least 10,000 years.

Where it comes from

Wool comes from sheep raised across New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Shearing is done annually and does not harm the animal.

Properties

Temperature-regulating
Wool insulates in cold and releases heat when warm, keeping body temperature stable.
Naturally odor-resistant
Wool fibers absorb moisture vapor and resist the bacterial growth that causes odor.
Moisture-wicking
Wool can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture before feeling wet.
Fire-resistant
Wool is naturally flame-resistant and does not melt onto skin.

Microplastics

Wool is a natural protein fiber. It does not shed synthetic microplastics. Wool fibers that enter waterways biodegrade. Studies testing textile microfiber toxicity have confirmed that synthetic fibers — not natural ones — are the primary concern for aquatic organisms.
