TENCEL Modal

Semi-natural fiber. TENCEL Modal is a semi-natural fiber. Every brand on The Plain Thread that uses TENCEL Modal discloses it.

TENCEL Modal is a semi-natural fiber made from beech wood pulp. It is softer than standard TENCEL Lyocell and is often used in everyday basics, underwear, and loungewear.

Where it comes from

TENCEL Modal is produced by Lenzing AG using beech wood pulp from sustainably managed European forests. The production process is closed-loop, recapturing solvents for reuse.

Properties

Very soft
Modal fiber is exceptionally soft — often compared to silk or fine cotton.
Stretch-resistant
Modal retains its shape well and resists stretching with repeated washing.
Moisture-wicking
Modal absorbs moisture efficiently and dries quickly.
Color retention
Modal holds dye well, keeping colors vibrant after repeated washing.

Microplastics

TENCEL Modal does not contain synthetic polymers derived from petroleum. It is chemically processed from wood pulp but is not classified as synthetic.
