Linen

Linen is made from the fibers of the flax plant. It is one of the oldest textiles in the world — linen fragments have been found in prehistoric caves — and remains one of the most breathable natural fabrics available.

Where it comes from

Flax is grown across Europe, with Belgium, France, and the Netherlands producing some of the finest linen. The plant requires relatively little water and no irrigation in most growing regions.

Properties

Highly breathable
Linen's loose weave structure allows more airflow than most other fabrics, making it the coolest natural fiber for hot weather.
Gets softer with use
Linen softens over time with washing and wear without losing its structure.
Durable
Linen is one of the strongest natural fibers — it is two to three times stronger than cotton.
Low water footprint
Flax requires significantly less water than cotton to grow.

Microplastics

Linen is a natural plant fiber. It does not shed synthetic microplastics. Linen fibers biodegrade fully at end of life.
